OK. So I’m usually the last person to get on the technology train. I mean I didn’t have internet on my phone until last summer and I still watch all my favorite TV shows on a 1997 Zenith television. I know…I’m that cool. 🙂 Once I got my spiffy new phone (which really isn’t spiffy at all) I tried to get on the App train. I downloaded a weather app…a movie app…a how much caffeine it would take to kill me app…you know…the important ones. I would hear about all these awesome apps but just never had the desire to add them to my life. Well friends…let me tell you about what I just saw. I was waiting in line at Starbucks and the lady in front of me was taking a seriously long time to order. She was obviously not a Starbucks lifer like myself. When it came time to pay she was messing with her phone instead of fishing for her wallet. I mean really?? You take 10 minutes to find the lowest calorie yet most fattening drink they offer and then you decide you need to spend a little extra time on your phone?? Doesn’t she not know the longer I stare at the petite desserts the more likely I am to order one?!?! I mean really.
What happened next blew my mind. She turned her phone towards the cashier and scanned it. Then walked away…drink paid for. Are you kidding me?!?! She paid for her Starbucks with her phone!!!!! Of course I had to ask her 1000 questions about what just happened and my former nemesis soon became my new best friend. A Starbucks app that allows you to load money on your Starbucks card and pay right from your touch screen. A. maz .ing. I think I might have to hop on the technology train for this one.
