If you follow along on Instagram (or Facebook) you know that Gary and I just recently bought a new house. It’s been a huge life step and a TON of work but we are seriously loving it. It’s been so weird going from condo living to a house that is totally ours. I can blast music at 8am and not worry about who I’m bothering. I can walk to the door and let Goose out instead of going down the elevator and out the back door. I can put things away!!!!! Everything has a place and it might be the most satisfying feeling that exists. We have EMPTY kitchen cabinets. Say whaaaaaaa?????
I have these little moments of overwhelming happiness because this little place is our home. Like I’ll be sitting in the living room staring at the fireplace and all the sudden I’ll start thinking about Christmas and how our stockings will hang on that mantle and it just gives me all the feels. But as much as I love it here and know how beautiful this place will be…it is currently a giant work in progress. You may have noticed I was a little absent last week. I literally spent 12 hours a day painting and unpacking and organizing and painting. Did I mention painting? Please slap me across the face if I ever mention wanting to paint anything ever again. And the worst part is it’s still not done. (cue mental breakdown) But that’s life. These kind of things don’t happen overnight and while it may not look like it we have actually made a ton of progress. So I thought I would share a little behind the scenes (aka the giant mess that is our life at the moment) so when I do get it all done it will be that much more impressive. 😉
The day we finally closed. Such an amazing feeling. | Celebratory champagne after a looooong day of moving. | Only the classiest on Loughery Lane.
The painting begins. That was back when I still excited about the prospect of paint. Now I just need a back transplant. | My little helper. No joke he tried to sleep IN the pan of paint. Come on Goose. | One little corner that looks deceivingly put together.
My dad and Gary waiting for cement to dry. | Making our little patio magical until we build out a real one. | It’s sort of unreal how many books I have. Where did I keep them all?!?!?!?!!?
Found this little gem behind the old security system. | Black entryway. Probably my favorite part of the whole house. | A view of the entry and my very messy office. #1 task today…organize office.
Thank goodness for samples. Figuring out the perfect navy for the dining room. | More painting. Shocker I know. | Finished product. Also obsessed with this!
This little guy is so special to me. This was a wedding gift from our amazing friends, Cara and Shane. It’s a door knocker that was meant for our house one day (at the time we had no house, obviously). So hanging this guy up made me happier than you will ever know. | My office view. | The view from my desk into the dining room. So many office boxes. So little time.
Still painting. Still. | Our living room. Can’t wait to get this baby decorated and get some stuff up on the walls!!! | Sunsets on the patio.
Our little breakfast nook full of God knows what. Seriously…how does one accumulate so much stuff??! | See that!?!? That’s emptiness right there. | Our guest room. Just waiting for some visitors. Ahem…ahem.
First thing up on the wall! Our key holder!! | I like to think that one day we’ll actually put cars in this garage…but until then… | Getting mail here is the most exciting thing ever. Love my sweet bride/friends who are so thoughtful and amazing.
Welp…I’m off to paint. I will finish if it kills me. Wish me luck…
