Sarah + Nathan : A Chicago Lakefront Engagement

It was the middle of winter….somewhere around 30 degrees…and I was sure the lakefront would be a ghost town.  I mean, who goes to the beach when it’s 30 degrees?  Seems like a pretty valid assumption.  I pulled into the parking lot and slowly began to hear the faint thumping of loud music.  I looked up and saw balloons and tents filled with people of all ages.  Did I miss something?  Who has an outdoor event at the beach in the middle of the winter?  And what kind of people attend it??!?  Then it hit me…the Polar Plunge.  Of course I pick the day of the Polar Plunge.  The day when hundreds of crazy people jump in the arctic lake for a good cause.  Great job Lauren.

Lucky for us it was just ending and we got the ghost town lake front we were hoping for.  Hanging out with Sarah and Nathan on this frigid day was honestly so much fun.  We laughed and tried to fight the non-stop tears the cold weather was causing.  Nathan told me all about how he proposed while making s’mores over a campfire where he hid the ring in a chocolate bar.  How can you not love these two?  I left our engagement session on a photo high.  I don’t know if it was the fact that I was so excited to be outside shooting again or the killer looks Sarah was rocking all day (and Nathan too…can we say GQ?)…but I was ecstatic.  Sarah and Nathan, thank you so much for being such good sports in the arctic temperatures and keeping a smile plastered on my face all day long.  I can’t wait for September!
