As most of you know I am photographer…but I am also a graphic artist.  I LOVE designing.  I’ve worked in the graphic design field for the last 5 years doing advertisements and promotional materials for an international dance organization.  As I started this venture I knew I wanted to do more than take photos.  I wanted to be the go-to person for all my clients’ needs.  Not just take their photos, but make their birth announcements, birthday invitations, shower invites, holiday cards…the list goes on.  Well…if you remember Murphy from a few posts back…he is turning 3!  So Cara (his mom) and I got together and came up with a great idea for his birthday invitation.  He LOVES dinosaurs.  So…here is the cutest little creation for Murphy’s 3rd birthday party!!

I am here to help you with all your design needs!  Call me and let’s chat!  I love bringing everything together full circle!  The options are endless…and affordable!  Email me for pricing and ordering!  Stay tuned for Bridal Shower and Rehearsal Dinner invites….

So…last weekend I got together with one of my oldest and greatest friends.  Meet Mallory, Ray & Braydon.  Mal and I have been friends since we were  freshmen in high school and now it’s so crazy that I’m taking pictures of her little boy!!  Man how times flies.  Braydon is such a little man.  These pictures were so hard to edit because every one of his faces was more hilarious than the last.  I still have a LONG way to go before they are all done but here is a sneak peek….enjoy!

I am officially in love with this family.   There will be TONS more to come but for now here are some keepers….is he the cutest ever or what….!!!

OK…Josh and Kasey’s photos are finally done and I am super excited.   We had a blast taking these.  Our photo shoot started at 8am and the grass (and everything else) was sopping wet!  All of our pants were wet up to our knees and our shoes were filled with water.  But I have to be honest…it kind of made it more fun.  We ran around barefoot and played in a fountain and climbed trees…quite the time I must say.  It’s nice every once in a while to ‘be a kid’ again.  I’m so excited that I got the chance to take these photos (we’ve been trying to get it together since December!) and I’m even more excited for the wedding.  I’ve always wanted a sister and now I’m finally getting one…and she is the best.  I mean what are the chances that my brother marries a girl that is as equally obsessed with High School Musical, celebrity gossip, and Bones  as I am.  One word to sum it all up…jackpot.  OK…enough from me…enjoy!

Did he do a good job or what!!!

Yep…we frolicked in a fountain….

I made them climb a tree…and Josh thought it would be funny to push Kasey off…she did not agree…  🙂

So there you have it.  And I almost forgot I promised to tell you the amazing story of how my bro proposed.  I’ll give you the abridged version.  Kasey was flying to Italy to visit her sister (who is in cooking school over there) and my brother was supposed to go but ended up not being able to at the last minute.  Well…that’s what Kasey thought at least.  So…after she had been there a few days he flies over there with the most beautiful ring ever in hand.   Kasey and her sister were visiting the Piazza de Michelangelo and Josh walks up behind Kasey…who is totally unexpecting…and surprises her with flowers.  Gets down on one knee and proposes…at sunset…in Italy.  I mean seriously…how perfect is that!  Still gives me chills…

    I think these are great!
I love the legs ones – sitting, walking, and the one in the tree and the one where Kasey has her arm on Josh as they are sitting by the pond and then the kissing one from the back is really sweet. Good Job my amazingly talented daughter.

Wow! These pictures would wake up the skinwalkers and make them take notice. What a fantastic gift you have given the soon to be newlyweds. You are incredibly talented and the love you have for Josh and Kasey really comes through in these pictures. I am really looking forward to the wedding!

Hi Steve!!! I hope they don’t wake up the skinwalkers!!! That could be bad for all of us! 🙂 I can’t wait to see you…it’s been WAY too long. See you at the wedding!!!ReplyCancel

When I was growing up if you would have asked me if I would one day be taking engagement pictures of my brother I would have died laughing.  But sure enough here we are…I never thought it would happen but my brother is getting married!  🙂  And I think he picked a pretty terrific lady.  They’re getting married in September (I’m a bridesmaid!) so last weekend the 3 of us got together and took some engagement pictures.  So here are a few of my favs so far….lots more to come I promise.

There will be may more to come.  When I post the rest I’ll tell you about how my brother proposed…trust me…it’s epic.  Until then….

Awww so cute. I saw Josh and Kasey on our wedding night at Nicky Blaines. They are so stinking cute together. 10 years ago, I would have laughed too about taking your brothers photos (remember the belt incident, haha). I am so glad that you two are so close now!! PS, Who’s doing their wedding photos?ReplyCancel

    • laurenwakefield - May 24, 2010 - 8:03 pm

They are pretty cute…and Kasey is totally awesome! Josh told me he saw you on your wedding night…how funny. They are using a guy named Kevin Swan…have you heard of him?ReplyCancel

There really aren’t words to describe how much I love this family.  I met Cara a few years ago through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  We started working on Dancing with Chicago Celebrities together (a fundraising event that Komen Chicago and Arthur Murray Dance Center put on together).  We were always locked up in my office working on god knows what and it was always such a blast.  Since then she has become a very good friend of mine and I am so glad I got the chance to get to know her.  I love her to death.  Last summer I met her little boy Murphy and her husband Shane.  We did some pictures out on the beach and had an awesome time.  Murphy is the cutest little guy and they are all just so much fun to be around.  Cara is now expecting her second baby…and a couple weeks ago we decided to do some baby bump/family photos.  I always love going to their house because they feed me pancakes and waffles and bacon!  I mean I can hardly call that work!  Anyways…here are some of the photos from the awesome and insanely fun day I spent with them…

Cara remembered this blue wall from when we took photos a YEAR ago.  Shane and I had a nice little laugh about that…

I’m pretty sure there is nothing cuter than Murphy is his backwards, slightly crooked Boston hat…

We went up on the train platform, only to find out that it is illegal to take pictures up there.  So we did an excellent job of being inconspicuous and pretending to wait for the train.   That’s right…we were livin on the edge…

We’ve been trying to take this cupcake picture for a year now.  For some reason it never works out or we can’t find a cupcake.  After SEVERAL stops at bakeries looking for a cupcake with blue icing…we were able to check this off our list!

The picture on the left in Murphy’s dinosaur face…deep down he’s a big, scary dinosaur…

Cara and I decided to split a HUGE red velvet cupcake…but Murphy had other plans….

To some it up in a few words…this family ROCKS!  I can’t wait to meet their newest addition and I really can’t wait to photograph him/her.  Hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.  And thanks to Cara for believing in me and helping me in SO many ways.   And thanks to Shane and Murphy for always being the best subjects!  I hope these photos give you guys a little piece of home when you get to Boston…

    Hi Lauren,
I think it’s great that Murphy (I love that name!) is getting a little sister to watch over and take care of! Brothers love little sisters – like I love my sister Becky. It gives us a mission in early life. “Nobody messes with my little Sister.”
I really like that photo of Murphy and Cara at the top of this page. Keep up the great work!!
